I purchased this specific adapter because its both listed as and pictured as a dell brand adapter. It is not, but by the time I got it I figured oh well as long as it works. Which it did. For just over a month. So I contacted northparts asking about their return policy and stating my issues. I received an email response asking for a serial number. The adapter does not have serial number on it, which I explained to them. I was asked to look again. Im not stupid, I can very clearly see on the adapter that there is no serial number. I can also see that no where on it does it say DELL, it only says northparts. Why would I need a serial number for a exchange? They have record of what they sold me and when they sold it. It has their company name on it so it's not like I can pass some other adapter off as theirs. So rather then continue to deal with this seller I decided to eat the 15 bucks it cost me a buy another one from somebody else. I will be avoiding this seller at all cost.

Be very careful when using this product. My parents were using as a replacement to their old one, two days after using it they came home to their house smelling like fish. They followed the smell down stairs and realized it was coming from the outlet the laptop was pluged into.

From other reviews I've read that the charger gets very very hot and they're worried about burning things, well my mothers outlet singed up back into the wall and up the cords inside the wall atleast 10 inches. everything thing else that was plugged into the same outlet (even through a power strip!) was burnt as well at the prongs. This caused some of the items to not work any more. If my mother wouldn't of caught it our house would of surely caught on fire from the looks of the outlet after words.

I'm not entirely sure the adapter is what did it, but because of the many other reviews I've read and what happend after my mother had it plugged into the wall, I can only make an assumption that it was the cord.

I'm not 100% sure it was the cord, but my recommendation if you are considering this cheap alternative is to go through the revews and make your own decision.

Took well over a week from order to arrival, 3 days before it was even shipped. Plugged it in and it sizzled and popped at first, then interfered with TV reception (not cable), interference was positional but couldn't get rid of it entirely. When I plugged it into the laptop I had to really work to get the laptop to realize it had AC power, and any movement would make laptop think it was disconnected even though connection was intact. Maybe it was just this one individual unit, but most unhappy with it.
